FAQs

How do I know my dog needs Separation Anxiety training?

If your dog shows stress while you leave or you’re gone, you will both benefit from Separation Training. Separation Anxiety and related behaviors don’t go away on their own, and they worsen with time.

Will this training fix my dog’s Separation Anxiety?

Any of my packages will give you an amazing foundation to help your dog’s alone time struggles. If continued support is needed there is an option for a monthly membership that gets you 4 appointments a month and continues our work, at a lower cost to you.

How long does it take?

Each dog is different, but for most it can be anywhere from 6 months to a year. The 12 week program is designed to get you on the right path and set up a solid foundation for alone time!

How much time do I have to commit to training every week?

The more time you can commit, the more progress we should see! If you can commit to practicing up to 30 minutes 3 to 4 5imes a week, we should see progress! Creating new habits and learning new training is hard work, and we want to make learning something new as easy as possible for both you and your dog.

Is the training complicated?

No! I do the hard part of figuring out where to start and how fast to go, and your part is just recording and walking out the door for the set amount of time for the mission and tracking data so I can best tailor the next mission! The training is the easy part, the harder parts are arranging your schedule to abstain from absences and meeting your dog’s needs!

Can I still leave my dog alone while we are training?

In short, No. I wholeheartedly acknowledge this is the hardest part about training, and not everyone has the ability to do so. With systematic desensitization if we veer off of that plan and let them alone longer than they can handle we’ve broken that trust and process, meaning it can be a waste of your time and money. Not everyone can afford a sitter or walker and I totally get that, we can chat and get creative about solutions to get you into training.

What tech do I need to start training?

Nothing fancy! I suggest using a combo of your phone and laptop or tablet device to record, and we can figure out how best to set it up together. If you have cameras already for your dog we can set them up where we can observe best and if you’re comfortable you can link me as a guest on your camera account, or directly send me clips of what you would like support with!

Do you come to my house and train?

No, we do all of our training virtually! You are the star of the show, and the most important person to your dog. No reason for me to interrupt when I can help from afar!
